Rooftop Roots

Rooftop Roots, a 2,000 square foot farm, is perched five stories atop the University District Food Bank which works to build a hunger free NE Seattle by providing them with reliable access to healthy food and life-changing resources. Rooftop Roots engages community members, customers and youth interns with intensive food production experience, food systems and nutrition education as well as a chance to bring home and enjoy fresh produce grown themselves.

As a former volunteer and intern at ESY, I'm really excited at the prospect of attending the Edible Schoolyard summer training. Since leaving ESY in 2012, I have been working as a chef instructor in Denver, CO. I currently teach culinary education classes for students enrolled in nutritional science and hospitality progams at Metropolitan State University. We offer some unique programs, including a certicate in urban agriculture.

Local food cycling school

We are a non-profit organization to promote the enjoyment of a lifestyle that aims to establish resource recycling in the local community. Our activities include, among others teaching how to recycle our kitchen garbage and other waste generated from our yards that is, how to turn them into compost and communicating the joy of composting. By making use of compost we produced or collected in neiboring areas, we grow vegetables in community gardens.

Rosewood Court Affordable Housing Complex

Our program is based out of Rosewood Court Apartment Complex, which is affordable housing through Housing for Hope for low-income residents. Our core values which lead our work are human dignity, solidarity, subsidiarity and option for the vulnerable. Our principles which guide our work are collaboration, excellence, education and stewardship.

Edible Campus Project

We are from an agriculture university(South China Agriculture University)in Guangzhou, China. Our campus is huge and people in our university do have lots of interested in planting, food, culture, sustainability.

Our research group is trying to organize different resources, people to improve our relationship with each other and improve the environment. Food, Planting, Environmental Education and Research, are media for us.
