Kua O Ka La Public Charter School

Vision:
Kua O Ka Lā has adopted the concept of `Ke Ala Pono – The Right Path – to describe our goal of nurturing and developing our youth. We believe that every individual has a unique potential and that it is our responsibility to help our students learn to work together within the local community to create a future that is pono – right.

Mission:
To provide students of the Puna and Hilo communities with a quality education that addresses their distinctive learning styles in order to enable them to become contributing members of society.

Crim Fitness Foundation

 The Crim Fitness Foundation is a dynamic organization dedicated to building healthy habits and lifestyles in the Flint community. FoodCorps Service members work alongside other Crim educators for a multifaceted approach to healthy lifestyle education for students in Flint Public Schools. FoodCorps supplement the diversity of our program particularly by engaging students in garden-based education, but also do cooking in the classroom and promotion of healthy foods within the Flint Public School food program.

 

Common Threads World Garden

The World Garden:

The Common Threads World Garden is an outdoor program designed to teach children about planting, maintaining, and harvesting from a garden. Once the produce is harvested, we use healthy recipes to demonstrate and bring to life the Common Threads core nutritional philosophies and lessons. Students are given a hands-on experience in the garden while learning about plants, gardening, harvesting, cooking healthy foods and proper exercise. Classes are offered in 6-week sessions in the spring and fall.

ISU Extension and Outreach - Black Hawk County

 

 

ISU Extension and Outreach is committed to "Making a Difference for Iowans." Through research-based education, they grow businesses and strengthen communities, support a safe, sustainable, and affordable food supply, help Iowa become the healthiest state in the nation, and prepare young people for the future.

 

Teddy Bear Day Care & Learning Center

The TBDC Garden Project was born about five years ago. In its infancy it was a small garden plot adjacent to the school's outdoor playspace, and each year a new element has been added. Today the project includes three raised beds, a small greenhouse, a butterfly and hummingbird garden, perennial and ornamental plantings, and a partnership with a local farm. The onsite garden includes edibles used in the school's snacks; while students grow and maintain edible plants (squash, beans, peas, salad greens) at the local farm.

Salem County Career and Technical High School

 The mission of the Salem County Vocational Technical School District is to prepare students for employment, for further education leading to employment, and for lifelong learning.

Green Plate Special

Founded in 2011, Green Plate Special (GPS) engages ethnically diverse, middle-school youth (ages 10 – 14) through classroom- and after-school, hands-on learning in the self-sufficiency skill of growing, cooking, and eating healthy, tasty food.

Missoula County Public School District

Missoula County Public Schools is an official service site partner with FoodCorps, a national service organization.

 Missoula County Public Schools serves area students through nine elementary schools, three middle schools and four high schools (three in Missoula and one in Seeley Lake). The District also operates an Alternative High School program, Early Learning Preschool program at Jefferson Center and an adult education program at The Lifelong Learning Center.

Somers Middle School

Somers Middle School is a service site with the national service organization, FoodCorps. A FoodCorps Service Member will be joining the Northshore Compact in Flathead Valley, Montana, to work with three area middle schools. Among the three, she will serve in nutrition classes, school gardens, a hydroponic greenhouse, and farm to school procurement.

 

Somers Middle School has mutliple school gardens, including an indoor hydroponic garden and an outdoor rasied bed vegetable garden.

 

Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center at Lake County Community Development Center

The Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center is a service site for the national FoodCorps organization. A FoodCorps service member is partnered at MMFEC. and collaborates with teachers to integrate food and nutrition education into their classrooms, with school and community members to start school gardens and garden-based education programs, and with food service directors and producers to get more local, healthy foods into schools.
