The FoodCorps service member stationed with ISU Extension and Outreach in Black Hawk County teaches Pick a Better Snack and Act lessons at Waterloo elementary schools, supports student engagement with school gardens, and teaches nutrition and garden lessons at afterschool programs through the Boys and Girls Club and YWCA. The service member also leads garden-based classes for elementary and middle school students in Independence, IA, and helps bring in locally grown, healthy fare to school cafeterias around the county.
