Chicago Public Schools, District 299 Farm to School Program

The Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Nutrition Support Services and the Office of Student Health and Wellness supports a Farm to School approach for nutrition education and school gardens. A Farm to School approach can awaken students' natural curiosity and provide experiential learning opportunities across the curriculum while emphasizing nutrition lessons and educating students on the food system.

Jefferson School District 251 Farm to School Program

The following description is a summary of our farm to school plan funded by a 2013 USDA Farm to School Program grant: To serve healthier meals, build relationships with the community and local producers, provide educational opportunities for students and staff, conduct farm visits, taste tests, and teach students how their food is produced locally.

Cultivating Food Systems for a Healthy Harvest at School

The following description is a summary of our farm to school plan funded by a 2013 USDA Farm to School Program grant: To provide the healthiest school environment for our students and staff, which includes school nutrition. To serve fresh fruits and vegetables as well as increase our education on how to implement more local offerings into our school system.

Peach County Farm to School Program

The following description is a summary of our farm to school plan funded by a 2013 USDA Farm to School Program grant: To enable Peach County Schools to offer tasty and nutritious locally grown agricultural products to students once to twice per week in an effort to combat childhood obesity and support the local farming community

Southwest Georgia Project for Community Education

The following description is a summary of our farm to school plan funded by a 2013 USDA Farm to School Program grant: To launch a region-wide F2S program, increase the supply of fresh, locally grown food in schools, tour nearby farms, talk to farmers about how food is produced, and conduct class discussions about healthy eating and how plants grow.

Farm to School New Haven

The following description is a summary of our farm to school plan funded by a 2013 USDA Farm to School Program grant: To engage a Procurement Specialist to help New Haven School Food Programs determine and implement strategies that will dramatically increase the amount of regionally grown produce in the meals of over 20,900 urban public school students.

Denver School District 1 Farm to School Program

The following description is a summary of our farm to school plan funded by a 2013 USDA Farm to School Program grant: To provide Colorado-grown products to Denver school children during lunch, to educate students on where their food comes from and how it is grown, and to ensure that the food coming from the urban farms is safe.

Weld 8 Farm to School Program

The following description is a summary of our farm to school plan funded by a 2013 USDA Farm to School Program grant: The district has made some preliminary contact with local farms and will strengthen the present agreements, bring in more farm partnerships and improve our kitchen facilities for the capacity to prepare, store and serve fresh local produce.
