Treasure Island Job Corps
Green Acre

In 2009, Treasure Island Job Corps embarked on an incredible community-wide project to create a farm on center. Today, that one-acre piece of land is an active, production-focused, educational farm that touches every aspect of our center. The farm boasts a greenhouse, chickens, an outdoor kitchen, a state-of-the-art irrigation system, orchards, and solar panels.

College Park Elementary

College Park Elementary is a public school in the San Mateo Foster City School District. We have a weekly garden club that meets every Wednesday and garden science in our classrooms. The produce from our garden is used in our after school program or is taken home (or eaten on the spot ;-) by the kids who help in the garden.

The Growing Home and Learning Center

The Growing Home is an urban farm, educational center, and edible landscape company located in Diamond Bar, CA (near LA). Since 2008, we have grown thousands of pounds of fruits, vegetables, and herbs on our 5000 sq ft of land, feeding our family and our local community. We believe that growing food makes more sense than growing grass, that it is time for our society to reconnect with the food it eats, and that the best healthcare is fresh, vibrant, organic food. We strive to educate people and help them grow their own food.

Williams School and Community Garden Project

In addition we strive to promote ecological and bioregional education and awareness as well as bring together our community and establish a cohesive and vibrant local food economy and good will.

Undecided

At this point, we aren't sure what type of program to embrace.

UT Elementary School Wellness Program

The UT elementary school is developing a new course in Health and Wellness studies for students in pre-K through 5th grades. The curriculum will include four components: Social and Emotional Learning, Nutrition, and Gardening and Cooking. A new cafeteria and teaching kitchen is being built. Garden plots for each classroom have been established. A new teacher will be hired in the next few weeks to develop the curriculum and start teaching it in August 2012.
