About the Program:

We are a small permaculture based school and community garden in Austin, TX dedicated to providing easily accessible fresh, organic food to our children in school and the community. In addition we strive to promote ecological and bioregional education and awareness as well as bring together our community and establish a cohesive and vibrant local food economy and good will. Our gardens exhibit green building techniques, rain water harvesting and conservation, biointensive and companion planting, cover crops, an extensive herb garden which provides culinary and medicinal herbs in a naturalized setting. Our plan also includes an open air outdoor classroom space for the school as well as community garden members, learn and immerse themselves in the wonder of the natural world and it be easily integrated into every day life. We'd like to see our cafeteria switch on over to local farmers for lunches- in addition to our own harvests.
