Garden Classrooms

The Growing Home and Learning Center

The Growing Home is an urban farm, educational center, and edible landscape company located in Diamond Bar, CA (near LA). Since 2008, we have grown thousands of pounds of fruits, vegetables, and herbs on our 5000 sq ft of land, feeding our family and our local community. We believe that growing food makes more sense than growing grass, that it is time for our society to reconnect with the food it eats, and that the best healthcare is fresh, vibrant, organic food. We strive to educate people and help them grow their own food.

The Victory Garden at The National WWII Museum

During World War II, while war was raging, on the homefront citizens endured commodities rationing and built victory gardens. These shared sacrifices domestically contributed just as much to the war effort’s eventual success as did military triumphs abroad. Using victory gardens as a focus point, The National WWII Museum demonstrates that the lessons and examples from the World War II homefront are applicable and relevant within today’s society.

Williams School and Community Garden Project

We are a small permaculture based school and community garden in Austin, TX dedicated to providing easily accessible fresh, organic food to our children in school and the community. In addition we strive to promote ecological and bioregional education and awareness as well as bring together our community and establish a cohesive and vibrant local food economy and good will.

Eat Real!

The World of Real Food: Combining organic gardening, traditional milk goats, and ancient wild foods, the "Eat Real!" program will give campers a dynamic hands-on and in-mouth understanding of where food comes from. With working examples of the three historical food systems - foraging, gardening, and animal husbandry, campers will explore the bustling world of food!

Schoolyard to Market

Schoolyard to Market is a youth development and entrepreneurship program launched in January 2011 by the Center for Urban Education About Stustainable Agriculture (CUESA) in partnership with the San Francisco Green Schoolyard Alliance (SFGSA) at three San Francisco Unified School District high schools (John O’Connell High School in the Mission District, Life Learning Academy on Treasure Island, and June Jordan School of Equity in the Excelsior, where we are working with Urban Sprouts to implement the program).

New City School Urban Farm

New City Public School Urban Farm was established in June 2010, in Long Beach Ca. The abandoned lot, formerly a 1920's ostrich farm and then a series of parking lots, was cleared, leveled, and shoveled into it's current bed & orchard design by school and community members. The Port of Long Beach donated three large container bins (we painted them a bright "barn" orange!) to serve as a tool shed, a future office and farm stand. A nominal lease from the City of Long Beach sealed the deal and New City Urban Farm was born.
