Prescott Farmers Market

The Prescott Farmers Market is a non-profit farmers’ cooperative organization, that operates three markets in the Prescott area. In addition to the markets, PFM supports schools in garden construction and maintenence projects through their school garden grant program and hosts a FoodCorps service member. In partnership with PFM the service member teaches nurtition and supports school garden programs in local schools while working with community partners to increase Farm to School programs in all three school districts.

 

Ndee Bikiyaa (The People's Farm)

Ndee Bikíyaa (The People's Farm) is a project of the White Mountain Apache Tribe Water Resources. The Farm currently supports school garden construction, facilitates gardening workshops for the community, and produces crops for distribution at the farmers' market in Whiteriver. The Farm also works with community members to provide garden and nutrition education programs at the farm, utilizes the passive greenhouse, and provides local food to school cafeterias, classes, businesses and Tribal enterprises. Ndee Bikiyaa is located 7 miles southwest of the community of Whiteriver.

Backyard Growers

 Backyard Growers (BYG) is a grassroots initiative helping to reshape Gloucester’s relationship with food. We begin by providing resources and support to establish vegetable gardens in homes and schools. In the end we create life-long gardeners inspired by the power of growing one’s own food. 

Common Threads World Garden

The World Garden:

The Common Threads World Garden is an outdoor program designed to teach children about planting, maintaining, and harvesting from a garden. Once the produce is harvested, we use healthy recipes to demonstrate and bring to life the Common Threads core nutritional philosophies and lessons. Students are given a hands-on experience in the garden while learning about plants, gardening, harvesting, cooking healthy foods and proper exercise. Classes are offered in 6-week sessions in the spring and fall.

ISU Extension and Outreach - Linn County

ISU Extension- Linn County provides services to improve the quality of life in its community. They offer research and education on public issues, food and nutrition, health, financial management, youth development, and family relationships.

White Rock Montessori Discovery Garden

 The White Rock Montessori (WRM) Discovery Garden Program offers an outdoor classroom that opens doors to learning, enabling children to discover the true value of organic farming and the benefits of living close to nature. At WRM, opportunities abound for students to receive a whole and balanced education. Environmental studies are integrated into a variety of areas in the student’s daily work.

Davenport Community School District

Serving alongside a nutrition educator with Davenport's Community School District, the FoodCorps service member is teaching Pick a Better Snack and Act lessons in eleven different elementary schools, to all first grade classes. In total, the Pick a Better Snack program in Davenport reaches approximately 2,400 kids every month, in kindergarten, first grade, and third grade.

 The mission of the Salem County Vocational Technical School District is to prepare students for employment, for further education leading to employment, and for lifelong learning.
