Farm Based

Homeless Garden Project

The Homeless Garden Project provides job training, transitional employment and support services to people who are homeless. HGP's vibrant education and volunteer program for the broad community blends formal, experiential and service-learning. The programs take place in our 3-acre organic farm and related enterprises.

Our Mission:

In the soil of our urban farm and garden, people find the tools they need to build a home in the world.

Our Vision:

Longview Farms

Longview Farms is a family farm located in Havana, Florida and nested in restored longleaf pine forest. The mission of the farm is to raise healthy grass-fed and finished Devon cattle, pastured chickens and pigs, and healthy vegetables free of pesticides and chemical fertilizer. The farm is also committed to providing students of all ages opportunities to immerse themselves in nature, and get hands-on experience with sustainable farming.

Farm Lot 59

We love our Little Learners and welcome you to come to the farm for a customized hands on field trip. All ages and grade levels are welcome. We ask for a $5 donation per person attending. Its best for us to keep groups between 15-30 total people per group. If you have more than that we can split the lesson in 2 parts, add a nature walk or tour of EDCO recycling across the street. After you tell us a little about your group and what you are interested in learning we will confirm your trip date and tailor the lesson for your group.

FOLO

FOLO stands for Feed Our Loved Ones. FOLO Farms is run by six families on a mission to feed the world nutritionally power packed, bio-nutrient rich vegetables. Our farming methods are 100% organic, although we have not got round to getting certified organic status yet.

We have three farms in JB. Our first is a half acre farm at Kempas. This is a demo farm, where we do all our experimenting. This is the only farm open to public at the moment as we have built a proper events space/café here. We run events such as school tours, private workshops, cooking lessons.

YRCS Home Study Farm Program

The Yuba River Charter School Home Study Farm Program (Raelynn Noel teacher) is based at a local, organic farm four days a week (Tues-Fri 8:30 am to 1:30 pm/1:00 Thursday and min days). The program is moving and will be located on 215 Washington Street near the YRCS campus in Nevada City.

FoodChain

FoodChain is a nonprofit that strives to forge links between our community and food by

Granja educativa y Laboratorio del alimento, Villa de Leyva

As chef and cooking teacher for 10 years I have had the opportunity to understand how, by developing a relationship with food, students can acquire skills necessary for life.

Studying food, not as a commodity but as a system that allows us to understand life, develop environmental awareness, understand the human body and act as a means of knowledge ( a way to foster and develop culture and life skills)

The Greensboro Montessori School Permaculture Gardening Program

The Permaculture Gardening Program at Greensboro Montessori School nurtures each child’s appreciation and understanding of the natural world and builds ecologically responsible citizens by involving them in the seasonal cycles of planting, harvesting, and sharing the food grown in an organic, Permaculture garden. The Greensboro Montessori School is a privately run school in Greensboro, North Carolina serving students and families from a wide variety of socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities, and nationalities.

UF/IFAS Extension Family Nutrition Program - Farm to School and Community

Our Farm to School and Community (F2SC) program makes Florida-grown foods more accessible to SNAP-eligible people in Florida. The F2SC team approaches Farm to School holistically by partnering with a variety of stakeholders throughout the food system. We work with local partners — schools, farmers, businesses, farmers markets, food service professionals, non-profit organizations — and state and federal agencies to improve the health of Florida citizens, while benefiting farmers and the local economy.
