About the Program:

Longview Farms is a family farm located in Havana, Florida and nested in restored longleaf pine forest. The mission of the farm is to raise healthy grass-fed and finished Devon cattle, pastured chickens and pigs, and healthy vegetables free of pesticides and chemical fertilizer. The farm is also committed to providing students of all ages opportunities to immerse themselves in nature, and get hands-on experience with sustainable farming. School and homeschool groups have the chance to participate in myriad farm chores — feeding and tending farm animals, collecting eggs, mixing compost, and planting, and harvesting vegetables. In our commercial kitchen, students can prepare and eat fresh nutritious food collected here on the farm. Participants develop a deep understanding their own food web and an appreciation of the resources and labor that produce healthy sustaining food.
