Upper Elementary

Woodland Elementary Charter School

At Woodland, our new garden program brings together our students, teachers, parents and community members. We are working together to mange a large-scale garden. Woodland is a PreK-5th grade elementary school in Sandy Springs, Georgia. We are in the process of becoming STEM Certified. Our school gardening program fits perfectly into the curriculum for every grade level, ability and every subject. Gardening provides our students with amazing hands on learning opportunities and lessons they will carry with them for a lifetime. We are a center school for students with special needs.

Centreville Elementary School

Centreville Elementary School (CES) would like to expand its outdoor learning program to include a vegetable garden aligned with the Virginia history Standards of Learning. We would also like to build a greenhouse using recycled water bottles. The greenhouse will allow us to build upon our already existing recycling efforts turning into an even more meaningful project.

Don Roberts Elementary

Our goal is to expose every child to the joy of gardening while instilling an appreciation and understanding of the benefits of growing clean and nutritious foods. In addition, students will learn valuable economic skills through the implementation of a West Little Rock Farmer's Market that will help support and sustain the life of the garden. For the importance of growing healthy, students will use various food items from our garden for education and provide cooking classes in the evenings in order to teach other students how to cook healthy meals.

Hill Elementary

The Hill Garden's goal is to help educate our Upper Elementary students about the process of growing, harvesting and preparing organically grown foods. Our garden is 4 years old and we have assigned a single 5'x8' raised bed to each kinder and 1st grade class. They grow a variety of vegetables, herbs and flowers which they take home or use in class. We would like to add a watering system for the entire garden, add 10 beds and begin an annual pickling project for classes from various grade levels.

Little Village Academy

The Little Village Academy garden is one element of a school campus master plan developed with the support of Enlace and the engagement of over 60 stakeholders. The plan’s goal is to improve the quality, safety, and functionality of the school’s outdoor space while increasing accessibility to green and recreational spaces in a community that lacks such amenities.

Southwest Elementary School

One of these goals of the gardens at Southwest Elementary School is to help students see the connection between what they eat and where is comes from. As with most schools, our school has a high rate of obesity among our students. Gardening allows them to have a vested interest in what they eat, and allows them to sample food items they may not have tried before. A second goal is to get our students outside more so they become more familiar with the many ecosystems which surround them. Many of our students get very little unstructured time outside.

Leonardo da Vinci K - 8

It is the goal of the LdV PTC Learning Garden to expand throughout the campus, with the specific focus of implementing a standalone, school-wide cooking and nutrition enrichment program that incorporates Integrated Thematic Instruction and Common Core concepts, reflective of our school and communities rich diversity.

ReNEW Schaumburg Elementary

The goal of our garden is to improve our students, families, and community's health. The garden provides an opportunity for students to learn about nutrition. Watching fruits and vegetables grow increases the likelihood they will eat more fruits and vegetables, become more knowledgeable about nutrition, and develop ownership over their own health. Through gardening, students are given the opportunity to learn and explore. They can try new things and engage in hands-on learning and physical activity.

Orchard Gardens K-8 Pilot School

CitySprouts gardens are a vital resource for children's health and learning. When teachers bring classes to the garden, children see difficult concepts come to life in a rich sensory environment. In this way the garden promotes academic engagement across the curriculum. The garden also connects children to the food they eat and empowers them to make healthy food choices. By planting and harvesting fruits, vegetables and grains, children develop a taste and appreciation for nutritious food.

Lewisville Elementary School

Our Lewisville Elementary School Science Garden was established through a Lewisville Neighbors Association and Lewisville Education Foundation to support Texas science standards. Students learn about nutrition, conservation, life cycles. The students plan and implement simple experimental investigations and collect information to help our plants grow. Ethics of team work, job sharing, respect, and responsibility are gained while improving our yield each year.
