About the Program:

It is imperative that our students today are involved,hands-on and active to motivate their learning. We would like to turn our desolate raised garden tubs into a thriving, lush school and community garden. Because we are the bilingual campus, we'd also like to teach our students how to plant produce familiar with the cultures we encounter on a daily basis. We are currently working with the local food pantry on solutions to help offer fresh produce selections to their customers. The main goal of our school garden would be to sustain a weekly delivery to the local food pantry. Students have also created a plan to sell produce at our local farmer's market to support and maintain our garden. By planting produce, we will also be teaching our students how to embrace the diets of the cultures around us while exploring healthy food options. With the receipt of this grant we will be able to encourage our students to make healthy choices while caring for and serving their school and community.
