Lower Elementary

Lockeland School Garden

The Lockeland Design Center garden will be comprised of three connected areas: a raised bed food production area, a butterfly garden area, and a school classroom area. The garden is to be located in the back of the school, just outside the cafeteria. This area was chosen for both it’s proximity to an existing water source, and for security as it located within a fenced area.

Yale Sustainable Food Project Seed to Salad Program

Every spring, the Yale Sustainable Food Project's Seed to Salad program welcomes five classes of second graders from schools in and around New Haven to the Yale Farm for a series of visits designed to teach them about plant anatomy, seed cycles, composting and nutrition. As part of their learning, students plant radish and lettuce seeds and cultivate them over a seven-week period before harvesting to be eaten as part of a salad, topped with homemade dressing, at the program's final session.

The Knowing Garden

THE KNOWING GARDEN is a community Elementary school for the children and families of the Greater South Bay area. Now open at St.Andrew's Church in Redondo Beach, our school recognizes humans as natural learners and respects students' rights to choice, freedom and collaboration. We believe that a project-rich curriculum facilitated by hands-on learning and real-life experiences will prepare our students to be critical thinkers who become lifelong learners and active contributors to the global community.

Lang Ranch Wellness Committee

We just got approved to move forward with our garden. The principal has made it clear that although he likes the garden idea, it's not his top priority. I want to be able to inform teachers about available lesson plans and ideas and get them in our new garden and use it.

Hiland Hall Garden

Hiland Hall Garden is a beautiful historic garden located in the village of North Bennington, Vermont. The garden and grapery serve as an outdoor classroom for gardening, art and healthy eating for local schools.

FOOD 4 U LUNCH

Food 4 U in the Elementary and Aspen Middle Schools ensures that all students have access to delicious, healthy, seasonal meals in order to grow their bodies, minds and future.  All meals are made from locally grown, sustainable ingredients to the greatest extent possible.

We also want students to understand the relationship between food, health, nutrition, cultures, environment, and business; the relationship children have with food will evolve into a circle benefiting not just themselves, but society as a whole.

SAY Miramar Ranch

My amazing students have created a thriving, organic, edible and therapeutic garden. It is a lifelong benefit for children to know how to take care of themselves and the planet.

AGAPE 24-hour Child Development Centers

AGAPE 24-hr CDC is partnering with Project Sweetie Pie and other community gardening programs to help strengthen family/community educational, wealth, and wellness goals.  We expect to see changes in the relationhip to food consuming and food growing/producing, leading to making better/smarter choices in food selection while increasing family/student health and wealth attainment.  Our centers are located in one of the largest urban areas in Minnesota.  We face health, education, and wealth disparities that can be addressed through our project's practical approach.  Our engagement objective

Odyssey Community School Gardens

Odyssey Community School is a public charter school in Connecticut; we are in our 15th year and have recently expanded to be a K - 8 school.  We are in the process of obtaining funding to improve our grounds, and we would love to include teaching gardens in our plan.  Right now we only have a muddy field for kids to play in, and no gardens that kids and teachers can work in.

GCCS Edible Schoolyard

In the planning stages of creating a garden to supplement our snack program. Students will learn about sustainability, healthy eating and gardening skills. Right now, our students can snack on mint leaves, are watching strawberries grow and chive blossoms bloom. Soon we will be planting watermelon for summer camp and bell peppers for our spring salads. We have a new volunteer who will help us build on our garden.
