CHES Community Garden

I am a parent volunteer who works with students at my son's (and soon my daughter's) elementary school in the school community garden.  My husband and I (and some parent/teacher volunteers) started the garden 3 years ago.  Our goal was to provide a space for nature exploration for the children and a chance for them to learn how to grow food and enjoy eating the food that they grow.  All of the children (about 360) plant seeds in the garden in the spring and then some children join me in the garden during recess time certain days to maintain the garden and taste what is growing.

NCS Gardens Project

We are a small charter school in central Indiana.  Currently, 90 kids in K-2 are involved in the gardens project.  Classes have their own raised beds and have weekly garden lessons with a volunteer instructor.  Our program, which doubled in size, is in its second year.  The focus is sustainable organic agriculture, nutrition, broadening food choices,  and understanding natural systems.

Children's Enrichment Center

We are a learning center serving children ages 3 - 11 both full day programs for early learners and after school enrichment for ages 6 - 11. We want to start our own garden and have a space of 30 x 50.

Hamlin Street Elementary Garden Club

We are a suburban, public school of approximately 400 students.  We are located in West Hills, California.  Our garden consists of 8 raised beds with a pergola and some grape vines.  We are currently growing organic vegetables and have a few fruit trees.  Our hope is to expand our garden to include espallied fruit trees.  It's good to dream!

Growing Up Organic

Growing Up Organic is a project of Canadian Organic Growers' Ottawa Chapter. We run a number of active programs aimed at increasing youth awareness of and access to local organic foods, while encouraging increased organic production for the local community. To date we have partnered with 23 schools across the Ottawa region in establishing organic school garden programs...the harvest grows more bountiful every year!

Friends of Holly Hill Farm

The Friends of Holly Hill Farm is the non-profit education center based at Holly Hill Farm in Cohasset, MA.  Holly Hill Farm is a certified organic vegetable, flower, and herb farm with just under 4 acres under cultivation.  The farm sells to the public and to a few local restaurants.  In addition to the growing fields and buildings, the farm is home to 130  acres of beautiful woods with marked trails and diverse habitats including open fields, streams, salt water marsh, and vernal pools.

Dailard Elementary Edible Science Garden

We are in the process of constructing out Edible Science Garden. We have funding in place and are moving forward! So very excited to get these kids growing their own food and relating the garden to their daily educational activities.

Healthy Communities Coalition

Since 2010, Healthy Communities Coalition has strategically worked towards improving our area’s food system. We began developing a food hub by connecting local, state, and federal agencies, tribal groups, farmers, businesses, and community volunteers around the goal of creating an affordable, accessible and fair food system that bolsters our local agriculture economy, provides for residents in need, builds demand for locally grown foods, and creates a sustainable source of healthy food.
