Lower Elementary

Vintage Hills Elementary School

We have a school garden with a dozen large beds that was started by a parent volunteer group. We have enough seating for a class to meet and use the garden for lessons. A Garden Club meets each week and parent volunteers staff those gatherings. Classrooms visit on a regular basis with the support of parent volunteers.

chiloquin school garden project

Chiloquin Elementry School is a small rural town in the Klamath basin of southern Oregon. we are 30 miles away from any grocery stores and orgainc produce. The school garden project was formed because there is a great need for food security here. We have started composting saving 15 to 17 gallons of food a day from the garbage and sink disposal as well as established 2 acres at the school to use for growing food and planting native plants . We are said to live in one of the poorest counties in Oregon.  Chiloquin is the homelands of the Klamath tribal peoples.

The "Heart and Soil Garden" at St. Robert School.

We are builidng a garden on asphalt to be integrated with not only core curriculum but the school kitchen as well.  Progress is slow due to funding  but the school parents and local residents are becoming involved and excited about edible gardening on their own.

What we care about

Frank Zeek Elementary Garden

Frank Zeek Elementary School Garden is a great place to grow!  Started in 1998 with a small "Garden in Every School" grant, it has grown into a full sized school garden.  We grow seasonal crops and eat everything we grow!

Hexter Elementary School Garden & Outdoor Classroom

Hexter Garden Mission

The Hexter Garden provides our students with hands-on experiences that support their academic success, their love of learning, and their personal wellness.

What we do:

  • Support academic success by partnering with teachers to provide an outdoor classroom for academic lessons emphasizing science and math, and incorporating literature, writing, social studies, music, and art.

Farm Table - All Local and Seasonal Cooking on the Farm

New Earth Farm is a nonprofit, working, sustainable and educational 21 acre farm growing high quality, unique heirloom produce, pasture raised duck and chicken eggs, pasture raised sheep, lamb and more.

Lakeside School at Black Kettle Farm

Since our move to Black Kettle in 2007, we have implemented a farm-based program, whose roots grow deeper each year. Our unique setting allows us the opportunity to experience an education based on the Waldorf philosophy in a deep and rich way. From animal husbandry to planting, tending, and harvesting their produce, children experience the seasonal food cycles of agriculture first-hand. Each fall, after the fall harvest is over, the children put the beds to sleep for the winter.

Science Alive

science Alive is a comprehensive garden and science program that teaches environmental stewardship, science, nutrition and basic garden skills to Theodore Judah elementary school population.
