Mission

Kemper Garden Project

We are just starting out, and in the developing stages. We are persuing grants, donations and hands on help to get it going.

Some classes and the after school program have had students  start seedlings. We have made up starting trays for teachers to utilize easily, and we are beginning our project in the courtyard of the school grounds. We are also looking to develop a larger area for a full on garden with outdoor gazebo type classroom structure.

Washburn Farm to School

Washburn School District Farm to School Program focuses on providing garden and nutrition education to PreK-8th grade students using project based learning in our garden. Teachers use the garden to enhance Math, Science, Social Studies, Language and Arts education. The overall vision of the Washburn Elementary and Middle School garden project is to provide greater access to and educate the public about locally grown food in the area. The food produced in the garden is utilized in the school cafeteria and in classrooms.

Des Moines School Garden Network

This project will build an inter-school peer learning network for school gardens in Des Moines, Iowa. The network will facilitate resource sharing, camaraderie, and provide an entry point for schools wishing to start a school garden. It will also serve as a platform from which any school can observe and learn from the successes from six demonstration school gardens in Des Moines.

Stoney Hill Community Garden

The Stoney Hill Community Garden is a community garden that provides learning to youth ages K-12 and food to the needy in Greensboro, NC. The community of the garden is low income and in need of healthy and affordable vegetables. Our goal is to end childhood obesity in this neighborhood and encourage sustainable food practices. Boise Urban Garden School

The Boise Urban Garden School (BUGS) is a specialized, inquiry-based education organization that utilizes an organic garden setting as the foundation for our unique learning environment. Our mission is to grow healthy bodies and inquiring minds. In 2013, we will celebrate our tenth anniversary, and since our founding, we have provided our students with knowledge through “real life” experiences.

Kinder-GARDEN ing and more

Our 4th  grade book buddies assist our Kindergartners with choosing the plants to grow each season. But, the original garden was designed by me. It has since been expanded and we have improved it each year. I used a book entitled Schoolyard Garden Mosaics as inspiration, but I work with a limited budget each year, so I just dream of having gardens like those displayed in the book.

Martha's Table's Greenhouse

Built in January 2013, our new Greenhouse is a cornerstone of our food and education programs, playing several important roles. In our food program, the Greenhouse will help us serve more fresh and nutritious food to those in need. Currently, we are growing tomatoes, broccoli, beans, lettuce, strawberries and a variety of herbs.

Barnard Environmental Studies Magnet School -Courtyard Garden

Parkdale Community Garden

Our garden is a large enclosed vegetable garden, it is a learning garden on the grounds of an elementary school.  During the summer months we have local families adopt the garden for a week at a time to maintain the garden.  During the school year we have volunteers meet with classes in the garden and we have an after school garden club.
