About the Program:

We are just starting out, and in the developing stages. We are persuing grants, donations and hands on help to get it going.

Some classes and the after school program have had students  start seedlings. We have made up starting trays for teachers to utilize easily, and we are beginning our project in the courtyard of the school grounds. We are also looking to develop a larger area for a full on garden with outdoor gazebo type classroom structure.

We want to provide our children, their families, and the community with the opportunity to learn and develop an intrinsic, wholistic value of food and the role it plays in life, health and the world, along with instilling stewardship into the hands, minds and hearts of our youth.

We aim to create an outdoor classroom, where students, families and staff, can join together,  growing, tending and harvesting fresh fruits and vegetables, along with learning new and healthy ways of eating and preparing the harvest. Eventually, we want to incorporate it into the lunch program.

The garden area will also be used for science, math and other cirriculum, incorporated with the school for each grade level.

We will be creating workshops to engage parent involvement, and year round learning, outside of the classroom.
