High School

Oakland International High School

By increasing access to urban garden space and physical activities for historically underserved, low-income families, the proposed project will address a variety of issues affecting communities -- not the least of which are a lack of opportunities for physical activity that is incorporated into families̢

Green Chimneys School

We plan to continue to enhance our two organic gardens and greenhouse to ensure an innovative learning environment for more than 250 special needs students and a pioneering training site for the thousands of visitors whom visit each year interested in replicating our therapeutic gardening program. New York State educational standards are met through our individualized year-round curriculum which includes certified horticultural therapy, seed propagation, harvesting, plant anatomy and maintenance, food storage, canning, farm machinery, tool usage, naturopathy, aromatherapy and composting.

St. Martin's Episcopal School

The goal of the St. Martin's Community Garden is to involve students in an outdoor classroom setting in order to teach them the hands-on process of sustainable agriculture. The Community Garden Program is designed to teach students about and involve them in the practice of sustainable agriculture in order for them to gain a deeper appreciation for and understanding of the vital role these processes play in our daily lives. The purpose of the GardenSoxx is to make the garden relatively maintenance free, so that the students may spend more time learning about and nurturing their plants.

Big Picture High School-Fresno

The goal of the garden is to provide students with the skills necessary to construct, maintain and harvest their own healthy source of organic vegetables. The grant will make this project possible by providing the necessary funds to implement and maintain the garden project. The students at Big Picture Middle/High School are from poor families and many do not have access to suitable areas to learn how to grow their own food. It is hoped that the students will gain skills that they can use at home to assist their families in developing their own gardens.

Jonesville High School

Our primary goal is to develop a sustainable garden that will provide fresh produce to our local food banks while educating our students on methods of organic gardening and food production. We have several goals for the Jonesville FFA community garden including expanding educational opportunities through a partnership with our elementary school and producing more produce to expand our donations to other food banks in our community. FFA students will go to the elementary classrooms and have the students plant the seeds which will be later transplanted in the garden.

The Best of Thymes Garden: Panther Farm

Panther Farm is an idea I had in the fall of 2013. I have taught The Ominvore's Dilemma for the past three years and realized that I could do something to help reinforce the ideas Michael Pollan so elequently conveys in that book. I began to poll studens to gauge their interest, and now it looks like we begin to create to what I hope becomes a school-wide food forrest. I plan to help students design and implement the process, but this will be their farm.

Castle Rock Ranch Camp

Castle Rock Ranch Camp is a summer camp for kids located in the Bitterroot Mountain range in Idaho's northern panhandle.  We're a kids camp with a farm-to-table curriculum, located on a ranch with a mile of frontage on the Coeur D'Alene river.  Our mission is to cultivate an interest in ranch life, the outdoors, sustainable food, gardening and agriculture, and to disconnect from technology and reconnect with the natural world in a soul-rejuvenating, rural setting.  Kids ride horses and float down the river everyday, but also learn about ranch animal care and growing food.  The majority of o
