Enka Kitchen and Garden

Enka kitchen was set up in 2020 to introduce students to a multidisciplinary class where food is used as a lens and an invitation to read the world around them. We want to creatively develop skills and knowledge required to improve or strengthen healthy eating habits. Running parallel with our Enka garden, set up a few years ago, students are provided with interactive learning opportunities and experiences that have food at its center.

Land to Learn

Land to Learn's mission is to help grow a movement for food justice and community wellness through garden-based education. Through our SproutEd program we partner with public elementary schools to develop school gardens and implement year-round garden-based programming. Our ToolShed program offers professional development and consulting services for schools and other institutions looking to develop garden-based education programs. Our Leadership Ladder program engages upper elementary-aged through teen-aged youth in garden-based leadership and community-building.

Midland School

The Midland School is a coed, boarding, college preparatory high school for nearly 90 students that strives to instill values of responsibility, community and respect for others and the environment. We have a 10 acre organic farm that supplies most of the produce to the school's kitchen throughout the year. Students work alongside faculty to learn about the importance of agriculture, healthy soils and land stewardship.

The Growing Life Garden Project

The growing life garden project currently encompasses 2 counties in Southern Colorado. We currently have 17 different garden sites along with over 500 participants. We are built on the foundation to help teach a life skill to urban undeserved youth along with helping families overcome food insecurities.

Geitmyra matkultursenter for barn / Geitmyra food culture centre for kids

Our vision is to teach as many kids and youths as possible about great tasting food that is good for them and for the environment.

We have school classes visiting us every day of the school year. We have garden classroom and three kitchen classrooms, and our location is an old farm - situated in the middle of Oslo.

We also have food courses for families, for junior chefs and for the brand new parents wanting to learn how to make healthy, nourishing, safe and tasty food to their babies.

Let Us Learn

Let Us Learn is a volunteer-run organization focused on educating and sharing with the community. We have a particular focus on garden-to-table nutrition. Most of our classes are in Title 1 schools in our county.

Our mission: to develop a community where individuals such as chefs, artisans, and mentors share their skills with at-risk youth, and to inspire others to do the same.

Our Vision: to build community through shared skills.

Chester County Food Bank

Chester County Food Bank mobilizes the community to ensure access to real, healthy food. The Raised Bed Garden Program increases availability of fresh produce for households at risk of food insecurity by supporting garden installations at partner organizations, providing community education on growing your own food, and by fostering community around food and gardening. Partner gardens are located throughout Chester County at schools, food cupboards, and social service agencies. In 2019 we distributed 46,672 seedlings to partner gardens who collectively grew 34,676 pounds of produce.

Seedleaf

Seedleaf works to relieve food deserts in north Lexington. We educate youth and adult citizens in our 13 urban garden spaces on market gardening, sustainability, and wellness cultivating the next generation of local food producers and healthy eaters. Our urban gardens also allow the community to come and and harvest for free during the growing season. Seedleaf also provides the public with composting services. We pick up food scraps from homes and businesses and process it at our facilities to be sold as a life-giving soil supplement.

Laulima at Kapa'a High School

Our vision is to create a holistic education center that helps our students to begin to create secure and sustainable food systems for our school and community.

Each Green Corner

Each Green Corner seeks to bridge the gap between home gardeners and food distribution non-profits to increase the pipeline of fresh, healthy, and culturally-diverse produce for our non-profit partners to distribute throughout our local communities. In the process, EGC promotes awareness about food insecurity in our communities, the deep connection between food security and public health, the importance of permaculture and sustainable agriculture to environmental health, and using urban agriculture as a means to build community.
