New Orleans Center For Creative Arts

The goals of the Press Street Gardens are to create: a collaborative space for healthy local food production; a place for cultural preservation through the native and culturally significant plants garden; a home for Culinary Arts students to experiment with seasonal produce grown in NOCCA's backyard; and an outdoor lab for integrated humanities and science studies. This grant is a part of this project's long term financially sustainability. Support from the Whole Kids Garden Fund would be dedicated towards installing our permanent garden infrastructure.

Boston Day & Evening Academy

Since September of this year, our goal has been to revitalize our school garden so our students can learn about the importance of, and potential to sustainably grow fresh, whole food within the city of Boston, while supporting academic outcomes for written and verbal communication.

Ursuline Academy

The Herb Garden at Ursuline Academy is an effort to provide an outdoor, hands on learning environment where students can experience a wide variety of activities that support lessons in health and nutrition, and science while being enhanced in a cross curricular experience in art, English and other subject areas. Westmont High School

The goal of our garden at Westmont High School is to grow food that we can eat in our food service at the school, and also for us to be involved with the growing of the garden and to learn from it. This is one of the best opportunities a class has provided to the students of Westmont High School because it is giving us the chance to be hands-on and to help the environment. We are also able to give back to our school that always gives so much to us.

High School of Commerce

We see this garden as having the potential to transform our school culture and add a myriad of learning experiences to our courses. A goal for all of the teachers involved is to use the garden to teach about nutrition and healthy eating. Our students often haven

Almond-Bancroft School

The goal of Almond-Bancroft's school garden is to combine education of sustainable practices with a service learning environment for bettering the education of our rural community. Many families in our district are impacted by the agriculture industry, but don't have the knowledge and tools to make good choices when it comes to their production or consumption of agriculture. We are hoping to help families make nutritional choices while helping the school teach a new generation of farmers.

Stetson School

We have established three primary goals: - Teach students about sustainable practices and the importance of sustainability and our food system. - Provide staff the opportunity to purchase fresh, organic produce, and to provide our cafeteria and classrooms with the same for free as supplies allow. - To show students that great things can be accomplished through hard work.

Harbor Learning Center

The goal of the garden is to involve students, school staff, families and community members in growing, maintaining and harvesting vegetables and fruits. The garden will educate these groups about gardening techniques, which they can duplicate at home or in community gardens. The garden will introduce these groups to the health benefits of gardening as a source of fresh vegetables and fruit, financial benefits through lower food costs, healthy physical activity and improved nutrition.

Notasulga High School

Our garden has three goals:

1. To provide an outdoor laboratory for Elementary and High School Science courses
2. To augment nutrition programs existing on campus
3. To beautify campus and provide a source of pride for students and families in the community.

Jack London Community Day School

Our goals are:
- To provide a hands-on classroom for our horticulture career pathway, grow edibles for students to eat, and engage them in physical activity.
- To teach students to be socially responsible citizens, positive agents of change, and, through teamwork and collaboration, to discover that "Peace is Possible."
- To involve students in activities that defuse anger and frustration while building self confidence and self esteem.
- To beautify our school, give shade to our campus, and create a positive learning environment.
