REAP Food Group Farm to School Program

REAP’s Farm to School program works with the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) to bring fresh, nutritious, locally- and sustainably- grown food to children. The program teaches children about healthy eating and the environment, strengthens links between the classroom and the lunchroom, and helps establish a stable market for local farmers.

The following is a summary of our Farm to School work:

Modesto City Schools Farm to School

IDEA Healthy Kids Here Program

At IDEA Public Schools, our goal is to get 100% of our students on the road to and through college. Our rigorous academics and “whatever it takes” mindset, have helped us make tremendous strides in this work. But we recognized that the roots of academic success for our students run far deeper than classroom learning alone. In order for our students to get to and through college, and beyond, they also need a foundation of skills necessary to maintain their health. So, in 2014 we launched our Healthy Kids Here Initiative to become the Healthiest School District in America.

Concrete School District Farm to School Program

The mission of Concrete Farm to School is to build resilient students and families by providing access to healthy local foods, nutrition and culinary education, and hands-on gardening activities in the cafeteria, classroom, and community.

Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets Farm to School Program

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets promotes, supports, and collaborates with farm to school stakeholders around the state to strengthen and grow farm to school efforts.

Farm to school programs are a vital tool we can use to promote agricultural literacy in schools so that, from an early age, students can be learning the value of nutrition, developing healthy eating habits, and understanding where their food comes from.

South Carolina Department of Agriculture Farm to School Program

The South Carolina Farm to School Program originated in 2011 as a two-year project funded from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. Since the program began, it has expanded to not only include more funded schools, but also other institutions including preschools. In 2015, the umbrella organization South Carolina Farm to Institution was founded to encompass a wide variety of institutional sites beyond preschools and schools.
