Farm Based

Sams Valley Elementary School

I personally represent a few programs. As a Foodcorps service member I am part of a nationwide team of Americorps leaders who help connect kids to real food and help them to grow up healthy.

Sustainable Summer

Our summer adventures in sustainability are for students age 15 to 18. Travel to Ecuador with us this summer and explore concepts such as organic farming and sustainable development through a unique program that combines adventure travel, cultural immersion, and environmental education.

Montezuma School to Farm Project

The Montezuma School to Farm Project (MSTFP) has been transforming the way students empower themselves and their communities around food and local agriculture since 2009. The Montezuma School to Farm Project mission unites our local agricultural heritage with our growing future by engaging students at the crossroads of sustainable agriculture, resource conservation, health and economics through educational experiences in outdoor school garden classes, on farm field trips, and summer farm camps.

PEAS (Partners for Education, Agriculture & Sustainability)

PEAS is an organization made up both former classroom teachers and experienced outdoor educators. We collaborate and amplify our impact by working with many partners including school staff, volunteers, parents, community stakeholders, city entities, and foundations.

Moss Haven Farm

Moss Haven Farm provides nutritional, agricultural and environmental education on an urban school farm that grows student skills in academics, healthy lifestyle and giving back to the community. Our school farm serves the community surrounding Moss Haven Elementary, a diverse neighborhood of Lake Highlands in northeast Dallas, Texas. It is considered to be an urban community with a blend of single-family dwellings and apartment communities.

The Edible Gardens by Green City Market

Chicago’s Green City Market is home to The Edible Gardens, a 5,000 square-foot urban agriculture project growing in the heart of Lincoln Park Zoo’s Farm-in-the-Zoo. As Green City Market’s primary educational outreach program, The Edible Gardens’ mission is to connect Chicago youth with their food hands-on, and to ensure that families have the knowledge, experience, and inspiration to help support a sustainable food system.

SONMAT GREEN THUMBS GARDEN Ministry

We have fruitful fields, garden towers and raised bed edibles at our school. We meet weekly to nurture and grow our garden.

Healthy Communities Coalition

Since 2010, Healthy Communities Coalition has strategically worked towards improving our area’s food system. We began developing a food hub by connecting local, state, and federal agencies, tribal groups, farmers, businesses, and community volunteers around the goal of creating an affordable, accessible and fair food system that bolsters our local agriculture economy, provides for residents in need, builds demand for locally grown foods, and creates a sustainable source of healthy food.
