Ben W. Murch Elementary School

The Ben W. Murch Elementary School is a DC public school serving 630 students from Pre-K through 5th grade. Murch, its Home and School Association, and community partners, have supported a school garden program, the Murch GreenScene, since 2009. Each year every student at Murch has between one and three lessons in the gardens, sometimes more, plus one nutrition-based lesson with a local chef. The GreenScene program supports six outdoor garden learning centers: 1 - a 15-tree fruit orchard and diverse tree canopy, supported in partnership with Casey Trees; 2 - a 190 sq. ft.

Hamilton Central School's Seed To Table Program

Our raised garden bed "seed to table" program began in 2011.  We currently have five 12' x 4' raised garden beds in use.  We also have a small pumpkin patch, as well as several composting bins used for replacement soil within our raised beds.

Our school also has a greenhouse, where many of the plants that are planted in our raised beds are started and cared for by students, until the weather is optimum to plant outside.

Enivornment Community Opportunity Charter School

The Environment Community Opportunity (ECO) Charter School seeks to empower students to become adept learners, community leaders and environmental stewards. We seek support to further develop our school garden in an effort to fulfill our mission. When we envisioned a garden, we wanted to create an outdoor sanctuary where students would feel safe and become inspired by planting, growing and maintaining a variety of fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Tierra Pacifica Charter School

Tierra Pacifica Charter School, formed in 1998, is a collaborative effort among parents, teachers and community members committed to the development of the whole child. Through the establishment of a charter school, we believe we can work within the school system to create an innovative alternative model to traditional public elementary schools.

Tierra Pacifica educates children from Kindergarten through 8th grade. The school is designed for families who want to take an active role in the education of their children, both in and out of the classroom.

Branch Brook Elementary School Garden

We are a new program starting from the ground up.  We are starting with a group of first graders as a club program after school.   We hope to involve the staff in using it with the new New York State Curriculum.

The Duzine Elementary School Green Classroom

The Duzine Elementary Green Classroom is a community garden for grades K-2.  The kids learn to get closer to their food source and also spend valuable time outside getting closer to nature.  Annual events include:  Earth Day Festival and Scarecrow Festival.

FoodCorps Hawaii

The Kohala Center is an independent, not-for-profit, community-based center for research, conservation, and education. By focusing on the needs of island residents and the research interests of our university and agency partners, three core areas of work have emerged: energy self-reliance, food self-reliance, and ecosystem health. Through these partnerships and by recognizing that we work in a model environment, we help communities on the island, in the Pacific, and around the world thrive—ecologically, economically, culturally, and socially.

Woodstock Elementary School

The goals of our garden are to provide gardening education to our students and community, provide fresh food for our school lunch program, and enhance our nutrition education program. Our current garden is not large enough to meet these goals and this grant will enable us to purchase the materials we need to build a new garden and expand our existing garden.

Healdsburg Elementary School

Our school garden currently includes 12 fruit trees, 10 raised veggie beds, a perennial fairy garden, a living willow hut and a small chicken coop with 5 resident bantam hens. Our school is a K-2 school with a preschool program on-site, with students from ages 4-7. Last year, our school added a garden nutrition enrichment program to our enrichment offerings. The students have responded enthusiastically to the opportunity to be in the garden on a regular basis, gathering eggs, watering plants, and enjoying on-the-spot tasting of fruits and vegetables.
