Campbell Elementary Outdoor Classroom

The Campbell Elementary School Garden is part of a larger Campbell Outdoor Classroom, comprised of several areas on school grounds: courtyard and school-yard fruit and vegetable raised beds, a Colonial Virginia garden, a pollination garden, and a Wetlands Learning Lab. The Campbell Outdoor Classroom is incorporated into the school curriculum by the Expeditionary Learning Coordinator, Garden Docent, teachers, staff, and volunteers.

The Nutrition Center's Food Adventures

The Nutrition Center's Food Adventures program is a hands-on cooking and nutrition education program for school-age children that TNC delivers right to the classrooms. Students work in teams under the supervision of a licensed culinary instructor and dietitian to prepare healthy foods while learning nutrition and kitchen safety, how to make balanced food choices and the value of local farms and food producers in our community.

Beau Jardin

In the fall of 2013, my 2nd grade French Immersion class started a 700 square foot garden. The purpose of this garden is to enrich our science curriculum capabilities in my grade level and others, provide an extension to our classroom learning about nutrition, and provide food donations to needy families in our school as well as a local soup kitchen, Abraham's Tent. We complete year-long studies about plants, bugs, health, and cycles of all kinds.

Florida Farm to School Program, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services

The Florida Farm to School program partners local farms with K-12 schools to provide Florida children with nourishing, locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables in school cafeterias.

Sustainable Kids

Since 2007, the students of Rhode Street School in Dinsdale, Hamilton, New Zealand have created annual Vision Maps as part of their Enviroschools inquiry unit on sustainability. From these student-centred and voiced ideas came the popular theme of growing their own healthy food. The students also wanted to learn how to prepare and cook the produce and, finally, how to market and share their surplus.

Living Classroom

The mission of Living Classroom is to inspire children to learn and value our natural world through garden-based education. We collaborate with schools and communities to provide engaging, hands-on lessons that stimulate curiosity and instill a love of learning.  We create beautiful outdoor learning laboratories that give children from a wide variety of backgrounds a compelling introduction to STEM, environmental science and other sugjects.  We offer a full range of program services to assure consistency and sustainability within a school cdistrict.

Antigua International School

The Antigua International School (AIS) was founded to provide a world-class education, based on critical thinking, to the children of Guatemala, regardless of their socio-economic status.  Half of AIS's student body receives scholarships to attend. Through an Edible Schoolyard, our hope is to educate students and the extended community on the benefits of growing their own food.  AIS's diverse student population provides a great opportunity to create positive nutritional changes in Guatemala.
