Edutopia

Edutopia is a resource website for educators, dedicated to improving the K-12 learning process by documenting, disseminating, and advocating for innovative, replicable, and evidence-based strategies that prepare students to thrive in their future education, careers, and adult lives.

We offer some resources and videos around green education, school gardens, and student nutrition on our website.

Sierra Madre School Community Gardens

HI,

I am the chairperson for the garden committee at Sierra Madre School in Sierra Madre, California.

Curley K-8 School seed to table

We have a beautiful outdoor classroom and school grounds where students are able to explore nature in the city.

Our raised beds are used for planting vegetables, herbs, and fruit in the fall, spring and summer. In the spring the 3rd and 4th graders sow the seeds and seedlings, maintain the raised beds and water when necessary. In my science classroom we take observations and measurments of the growth. We notice change over time and discuss what plants need in order to grow.

Sequoia Community Garden

Sequoia Elementary is located in the Rosemont Community of Sacramento.

College Park Elementary

College Park Elementary is a public school in the San Mateo Foster City School District. We have a weekly garden club that meets every Wednesday and garden science in our classrooms. The produce from our garden is used in our after school program or is taken home (or eaten on the spot ;-) by the kids who help in the garden.
