About the Program:

HI,

I am the chairperson for the garden committee at Sierra Madre School in Sierra Madre, California.

We have been working for 7 years on our campus and have created several gardens.  We received $75,000. from the San Gabriel Water District and installed a California Native Garden on our campus,  We also received a gift from Tree People of 20 citrus trees that we  planted on our campus that we are nurturing. We have a succuclent garden with a variety of agaves and aloes.   We have a Woolly Pockets Garden that we are in the process of getting up and running.  Our pre-K community is working on an edible garden with raised beds.

There is so much interest and volunteer support in our community, it is awe inspiring.  The down side is that the district, Pasadena Unifiied is reniging on a promise to give us a working kitchen.  There was alot of excitement about taking our efforts a step further and bring the garden to table concept to fruition.

We are trying to talk the district into keeping their promise, although with all of the budget cuts it looks like this is not going to be possible.

I am wondering if there is any thing you have to offer to help.  As I stated, we have a huge volunteer community...we just don't know how to proceed.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
