We teach underserved children to cook wholesome & affordable meals because we believe that through our cooking classes we can help prevent childhood obesity and reverse the trend of generations of non-cookers, while celebrating our cultural differences.

Mission
The mission of Common Threads is to educate children on the importance of nutrition and physical well-being and to foster an appreciation of cultural diversity through cooking.

We teach our classes our of school kitchens and out of our Common Threads World Garden.  Our garden is located in the Hyde Park area of Chicago and we have been growing and cooking in our garden since 2007.

Grow Some Good

Grow Some Good is a nonprofit community program dedicated to creating hands-on, outdoor learning experiences that cultivate curiosity about natural life cycles, connect students to their food sources, and inspire better nutrition choices.

In addition to helping establish food gardens and living science labs in local schools, we provide resources and curriculum support through community partnerships in agriculture, science, food education and nutrition.

Waialua Culinary A.L.O.H.A. (A Lifetime of Healthy Activities)

Culinary Art class at Waialua High & Intermediate located on the North Shore of Oahu.  Our focus has been on learning how to cook healthy nutrious food.  We grow leafy green and some of the herbs in  an aquaponic bed and we use these in our culinary class.  We have worms recycling some of our cafeteria waste and are trying to be mor "field to fork".

KCKCC SIFE Elementary School Gardens

The KCKCC SIFE Elementary School Garden is a project started for the 2012-2013 Kansas City Kansas Community College Students In Free Enterprise. The project is brand new.

Abruzzi Teaching Garden

The village of Siankhor in Baltistan's Shigar valley, sits on the road to Askoli, the starting point to treks in Pakistan's Karakorum mountain range. Of particular note, is 8,611m (28,251 ft) K2, amongst several other 8000 meter peaks.

River Place Kitchen Garden Project

 I am a Norwegian woman who currently live in Austin , TX.  My British husband and I are both keen gardeners and cooks and we are sometimes shocked with the lack of basic kitchen garden and cooking skills we see here. I therefor would like to contribute in River Place Elementary and in Four Points Middle school here in our local are in Austin.

Eco Arts Council Quad Cities


The Eco Arts Council of the Quad Cities was created for advocacy, education, and for the promotion of Nature and natural living lifestyle; addressing environmental issues, and using Art as a gateway to draw awareness to and celebrate our place on Earth, our home, and our relationship to it.
