Academic Classrooms

Boca Raton Christian School

Boca Raton Christian School is a Green School. We currently have several gardens on campus, both vegetable and butterfly. The gardens are used to teach agriculture and the life cycle of the butterfly. We compost on campus and recycle many items, such as paper, plastic, cans, ink cartridges, chip bags, and Capri Sun. We are always looking for new ways to excite students about their environment and to learn ways to be good stewards of our environment.

Learning through gardening

'Value creating gardening' is in the initial research phase. Deeply inspired by Japanese educator, "Tsunesaburo Makiguchi's' theory of value creation I came across the Makiguchi project in action that was implemented in Brazil. This program dealt with using gardening as a tool for teaching academic subjects to students.

The mission of this program would be to introduce the concept of slow food and enable a natural learning for all students in urban & rural India. We will start with the urban context first.
