About the Program:

'Value creating gardening' is in the initial research phase. Deeply inspired by Japanese educator, "Tsunesaburo Makiguchi's' theory of value creation I came across the Makiguchi project in action that was implemented in Brazil. This program dealt with using gardening as a tool for teaching academic subjects to students.

The mission of this program would be to introduce the concept of slow food and enable a natural learning for all students in urban & rural India. We will start with the urban context first.

We are looking to start with students from low income public schools in urban india and then move to cover students from all backgrounds in India.

The values that we incorporate are

1. Aesthetic value: Make learning fun for students. Beautification of surroundings.

2. Economic/Utility value: Make learning effective for students.Focus in learning about nutrition.

3. Social value: Learn waste reduction, environment sustainability and cleanliness of surroundings.

Pedagogy used will incorporate the concept of school based curriculum development, where we want to build the school gardens and train teachers to organically innovate and use it to teach maths, science, languages etc to students.
