GRuB (Garden Raised Bounty)

GRuB grows healthy food, people, and communities. We inspire positive personal and community change by bringing people together around food and agriculture. We do this by partnering with youth and people with low-incomes to create empowering individual and community food solutions, and offering tools and trainings to help build a just and sustainable food system.

Northeast Iowa Farm to School Program

The Northeast Iowa Food & Fitness Initiative (FFI) has brought people in Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Howard and Winneshiek counties together to make our region a place where every day, all people have access to healthy, locally grown foods and abundant opportunities for physical activity in the places where we live, learn, work and play. The Northeast Iowa FFI partners with Luther College's Environmental Studies Department to house FoodCorps members. 

Modesto City Schools Farm to School

Modesto City Schools implemented a district-wide farm to school program aimed at increasing the quantity and variety of local and regional food items in school meals. We received an Implementation Grant from the 2014 USDA Farm to School Program.

Kansas Department of Agriculture Farm to School Program

The following description is a summary of our farm to school plan funded by a 2014 USDA Farm to School Program grant: The Kansas Department of Agriculture will operate a pilot project in eight school districts to help to develop food procurement pathways to increase the amount of local food served through school meal programs; embed nutrition‐based education activities into the school curriculum; and provide community‐based partnerships, technical assistance, and capacity building support to the eight pilot school districts.

IDEA Healthy Kids Here Program

At IDEA Public Schools, our goal is to get 100% of our students on the road to and through college. Our rigorous academics and “whatever it takes” mindset, have helped us make tremendous strides in this work. But we recognized that the roots of academic success for our students run far deeper than classroom learning alone. In order for our students to get to and through college, and beyond, they also need a foundation of skills necessary to maintain their health. So, in 2014 we launched our Healthy Kids Here Initiative to become the Healthiest School District in America.

District of Columbia Harvest of the Month Program

Through funding from the 2014 USDA Farm to School Grant, OSSE created a Harvest of the Month Program to pilot a more intense farm to school involvement in 15 schools across the District. The purpose of this program was to promote regional foods for school meals; integrate complementary farm and garden based nutrition education; and leverage partnerships with existing organizations.

Sarasota County Schools Farm to School

Sarasota County Schools Food and Nutrition Services established one of the first comprehensive Farm to School programs in the state of Florida in 2006. Our program follows the motto of "We Feed the Future" and provides food services and nutrition education to 42,000 students in 54 schools. In order to best feed our students and support our community, we prioritize purchasing from local farms and growing our school based gardens.

Baton Rouge Farm-to-School Program

The following description is a summary of our farm to school plan funded by a 2014 USDA Farm to School Program grant: The East Baton Rouge Parish School System farm to school program will provide opportunities for students and parents that live in food deserts in North and Old South Baton Rouge the opportunity to sample fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables.

F.R.E.S.H Schools( Farm Resources Educating and Supporting Health)

The following description is a summary of our farm to school plan funded by a 2014 USDA Farm to School Program grant: The Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District’s “F.R.E.S.H. Schools Project” is located in Michigan’s rural and isolated Upper Peninsula, an area with high rates of unemployment and low incomes. We are applying as a consortium of seven districts, with 55% of the students receiving free or reduced price lunch.

Concrete School District Farm to School Program

The mission of Concrete Farm to School is to build resilient students and families by providing access to healthy local foods, nutrition and culinary education, and hands-on gardening activities in the cafeteria, classroom, and community.
