Garden Classrooms

Mendocino County Youth Project

I work for the Mendocino County Youth Project in Point Arena, CA. I have a group of Middle School aged student who would love to get involved in an after school  garden program that promotes healthy organic choices that help create healthy bodies.

Center Montessori School Garden

Center Montessori has had a school garden cultivated organically for almost 20 years. Currently we have 8 raised beds and numerous earth boxes and container garden boxes throughout the school. Our growing season is from October to June so we have ample time to grow seedlings in our greenhouse, plant our Fall and Spring gardens, and harvest organic vegetables. Students prepare food at different times as vegetables mature. We make things like tomato salsa, brocolli egg scramble, cabbage slaw, mixed green salad, herbed citrus vinaigrette, and much more.

FHP EATS engagement in agricultural tasting and scholarship

Aquaponics Community Garden cultivated by the Agriscience and Biotechnology Academy at Frank H. Peterson in Duval County. The initiative will also include vertical gardens to add beauty and functionality to food in your close vicinity, shaping the school, students, and community! Please join us as we change the Worl through impacting our students in more healthful, compassionate and environmentally friendly ways.

The Dawes School Garden of Eatin'

The Dawes School Garden of Eatin' project focuses on educating children about healthy food choices. Through growing and harvesting vegetables themselves, and then  coming together for tastings, our students learn where food comes from and to appreciate the joys of fresh produce.  They learn that how we grow our food has a profound effect on the environment and on their personal health.  They learn that good nutrition means including vegetables in their diet.

Patrick Henry School of Science and Arts

We are the first Elementary Charter School in the State of Virginia!  Our integrated curriculum has a large focus on our outdoor classroom and school gardens (orchard, vegetable garden, butterfly/history bayscape, rain garden and forest woodland.)  We are currently growing food to supplement our school lunch program (we do not accept federal funds therefore are able to serve more nutritious options.)  We have a wonderful partner in our community who ran a successful CSA that has installed grow boxes on our grounds, with plans for a greenhouse classroom!

Ambassadors of the Earth

Our mission is to nurture the KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and VALUES essential to sustainable living in and out of school. We do this by exploring the connections between Classroom, Lunchroom & School Garden with children ages 5 to 18. Our community is our classroom and precious resource. Growing with our gardens into a blossoming community!

Miles Davis Magnet Academy Learning Garden

The Miles Davis Magnet Academy Learning Garden includes raised vegetable beds, butterfly and rain gardens and a native plants area. The Learning Garden provides opportunities for student learning about science and engineering, particularly in the areas of botany, urban agriculture and environmental science.

Highland Elementary

Our goal is to expand our existing garden and continue to help children become aware of the source of their food along with making sound nutritional choices. We want to integrate as many subject areas as possible but also believe in the intrinsic value of teaching children gardening and cooking skills as an overall approach to wellness.
