Garden Classrooms

Yellville Summit School Garden

Kick started with the Delta Garden Study program, this school garden program is expanding beyond Middle School to encompass the entire Pre-K - 12 campus to provide educational opportunities, fresh produce for the school cafeteria, and additional programming.

Children's Workshop Garden at Campos

The Children's Workshop Garden at Campos is made possible by a grant from the Citizen's Committee for New York to Children's Workshop and Campos Community Garden. It is a straw bale and Three Sisters educational garden with vegetables and other plants.

Starvin Marvin

The Starvin' Marvin program was initiated through a community desire to compost school lunch scraps. From this a garden was grown. Produce from the garden is used in the school cafeteria. In addition, in the fall of 2013 we are piloting a new program "Garden Gate to School Plate", to bring more local produce into the school cafeteria.

Waterford School District Edible Schoolyard

In support of the USDA Farm to School Planning Grant, Waterford School District has established an Edible Schoolyard in the courtyard of their Crary Campus. Featuring 17 raised beds and a Michigan-native flower bed, the crops are harvested by community students to offer an additional source of local produce to the building's kitchen in support of the Oakland County Free Summer Food Program.

Norfolk Food Discovery

Norfolk Food Discovery is a truly ground breaking project which takes primary school children from Norfolk’s poorest urban areas and teaches them how to grow their own fruit, vegetables and herbs. Then we show children how to cook up their crops into delicious dishes for their families to share. We take them to several local farms to find out where all their food comes from. In June, children run farmer’s markets in their school playgrounds, to bring fresh produce into the heart of the community.

El Paso Academy Outdoor Classroom & Community Garden

El Paso Academy is developing an Outdoor Classroom & Community Garden to give our students and their families an opportunity to connect with their food source and each other.  We are currently working on developing an infrastructure to facilitate growing sustainably in a desert climate.  This includes rain-water harvesting, drip lines for irrigation and of course, lots of shade!

This is a great group at The Edible Schoolyard Project and we are excited to share our pictures, stories, successes and challenges along the way.

Weston Public Schools

Weston Public Schools (WPS) Food Service Department is committed to providing nourishing food to help fuel our students for excellence. We seek to provide the best quality food that supports good environment practices and the local economy. Local sourcing was the first priority in our farm to school program. For local produce we work with ORFoodEx, a distribution company that carries exclusively local food. As a costal state, we also procure fresh local seafood from Red’s Best.

JFK in the Garden

We are a group of students, educators and community members who are excited about growing our own food. This is our first growing season and we are taking it slow and learning as we grow.
