Cultivating Community - East End Elementary School

We run garden classes in the school garden in the Fall and Spring, and cooking/ nutrition classes in the winter

STEM Garden

The STEM school is a unique school given its small population size and its practice of STEM education at such an early age. Because of that, the garden has become a big resource for the school. It has become a place for science experiments but also a place for students to learn about healthy foods.

Bartlett Courtyard Garden

Built in the spring of 2015, this garden is literally in the center of the school in their courtyard. It is surrounded by all the classrooms and even the cafeteria so the students can always see it. It has become a big part of the culture in the school and on any given day you will see classrooms out there exploring.

Robinson & McAuliffe School Garden

This garden is in the middle of a campus style school where it serves both elementary and middle school students. The garden has gained a lot of traction of the past year and it has become a huge resource for both schools.

Miller Elementary Garden

Miller Elementary school is currently building a small school greenhouse and garden.

Eli's House Port Salerno Elementary School Garden

The Eli's House Port Salerno Elementary (PSE) School Garden is a multi-bed garden that serves the students of PSE, a K-5 grade school in Stuart, FL.  Started in 2014, the PSE Garden provides each grade with its own raised bed and the students are able to choose what to grow from an extensive approved list of fruits, vegetables and herbs.  PSE also hosts a Garden Club for students.

Collicot School Garden

Our school garden sprouted in the Spring of 2015 with the help of curious students, interested parents, and supportive administration. It's been great to watch students explore and learn in the new garden space.

Growing STEAM Entrepreneurship in the Urban Community

The Partnership for Innovation in Education (www.piemedia.org) develops transformational, scalable, vertically integrated K-12 STEM Curriculum with community leaders, educators, business executives, university faculty, students, legislators and land, food, energy and technology entrepreneurs.  PIE Curriculum, first pioneered using the Socratic "case method" from Harvard University, features experiential "challenges" allowing students to devleop new career pathway opportunities and learning experiences offering real world learning.

Temple Terrace farm to school garden

Farm to school-based education for all grades. I work closely with teachers, students and the cafeteria to provide healthy breakfast and lunch. Children are taught how to make healthy choices.

The Food Initiative

The Food Initiaitive is growing healthy food, empowering lives and building community. The program works with young students and volunteers of all ages throughout the year. However, TFI's largest program is its Summer Youth Program, which employs 40 local high school students to work over the summer growing healthy food for the community, work in local hunger relief organizations, and participate in workshops on hunger and homelessness, money management, health, and more.
