About the Program:

Kapuskasing District High School received a $5000 Green CommUnity School Grant from the World Wildlife Fund with the support of Loblaw Company Limited to initiate a school garden.  The garden will serve as a living laboratory where students will actively engage in growing food for local consumption.  It is intended to teach students the challenges of growing food in Northern Ontario, in addition to making them aware of a dependence on a relatively unstable global food market.  The project is intended to inspire students to take the lessons learnt at school to their home's and to initiate home gardens with their families.
