Willow Glen High School Gardens and Outdoor Learning Domains
This program and the gardens it creates are the realization of a long held dream, a vision of a wondrous place that will both inspire and enlighten all who enter it.
The WGHS Gardens and Outdoor Learning Domains serve as outdoor workspaces for teachers and students of all disciplines to explore the countless connections and interactions between various components of our environment.
Students' discoveries and experiences in the gardens and outdoor learning domains support the development of their ecological literacy and foster in them a more profound appreciation for the natural systems that sustain all life.
The WGHS GOLD James D. Bagby & Cole R. Schroeder Main Garden is the centerpiece garden of a network of gardens spanning the campus. The focus of the Main Garden is ecological agriculture and food production. This garden provides a functional and interactive setting in which students can learn about biological gardening and farming as well as general ecology principles.
The other gardens on campus showcase California native flora and demonstrate their effective use in attractive water-conserving landscaping.
