About the Program:

Our primary project goal is to create a large garden at the school - planned, built, planted, maintained and harvested by children - which will result in a salad bar in the cafeteria. Secondarily, we hope to impact the nutritional habits of children through the experiences described above. And finally, we expect to help children understand the importance of stewardship in order to insure a sustainable future.

We think our project is unique because it will involve ALL the children in grades K-4: each class section will have a garden bed. The staff from Earthworks will work with the children and teachers in each classroom so that the garden does not create extra work for teachers. The assistance from Earthworks guarantees the knowledge and expertise to make the garden successful.

Since this will be the first school garden in Plymouth, we hope that our project will be replicated by other schools.
