About the Program:

Trinity Homegrown Foods is  advocacy  group to promote food and gardening centered in the rural community of Hayfork, Ca. We have been approached by the principle of our elementary school to help plan a community effort to coordinate local farmers participation is suppling food stuffs to the school lunch program and to assist in the formation of a student garden and possible kitchen classroom. We are at the initial planning stage of this project having just  submitted a grant proposal for funding this week. I  am a former cook at Chez Panisse and have long thought of involvement with the Edible Schoolyard. When this idea was proposed to our group I immediately knew we had to connect with your program .  We are a fairly isolated community in Trinity County which has deep seeded economic woes and because of this a strong volunteer spirit. We have a school  principle who cares and an eagerness to make this happen . Any information and advice you can contribute as we weave our way  through the process  would be greatly appreciated. Initially I am the contact person and will quickly impart any information received from you to the group and the school.

Thank you,
