Torrey Pines Elementary School Garden

Torrey Pines Elementary School garden provides an outdoor classroom setting that allows students and teachers access to an active garden resource. The goals of the program are the integration of science curriculum aligned with Next Generation Science Standards as well as Common Core aligned curriculum using the garden as a resource. The garden program is also certified in the San Diego Unified School District garden to cafe program where students grow and harvest produce for the school salad bar. The 3rd through 4th grade garden club meets twice weekly during morning recess tending to the garden and harvesting produce. The garden club also sponsors an after school youth farmers market selling produce harvested by students to build social, team, math and entrepenuiral skills.
