Toronto District Christian School
After partnering with Seeds For Change back in 2013, Toronto District Christian High School is once again working with the organization to extend its community garden. A group of students from the school's environmental class have taken on the project by installing four new garden beds to make a total of seven. These beds will produce fruits, vegetables, and herbs for the school's cafeteria. A portion of the harvest will also be donated to various causes around the community, including the local food bank and Vaughn Hospice. The garden will continue to be used as an educational tool, which will bring in people of all cultures and ages to work together. Our school will use the garden to educate students and the community on: organic foods, nutrition, composting, food preparation and environmental sustainability. The hope is that with the new extension and extra harvest, the garden will be available to help more people around the school and community as well as be available for future students for many years to come.
