The Stonehurst Edible Schoolyard provides students on the Stonehurst Campus with opportunities to explore the natural world using scientific inquiry and to connect academics with knowledge about nurturing the land, growing healthy food, and supporting where they can explore the science of soil, the food cycle, and their place in the web of life.

The Stonehurst Edible Schoolyard is the center of sustainability efforts on this campus. Practicing the 4Rs is a community effort, with students, parents, and school community members working together to develop and sustain the Stonehurst Edible Schoolyard – and to provide healthy food and active lifestyles for the entire community. This garden will also provide organic, non-GMO food to the school community, as well as job training for young adults in  organic, permaculture-based agriculture.
