About the Program:

The goal of the Stonecreek Montessori Academy garden will be to provide an outdoor educational experience for the inspiration and cultivation of children's inherent curiosity about their natural world. The garden will provide a nurturing environment where each child can become fully aware of and engaged in their natural surroundings. While being involved in the planning, planting, harvesting, and maintenance of the garden, the children will learn many important lessons about plants, seasons, life cycles, and weather. Children will also learn about the sources of our food, nutritional and medicinal aspects of various plants, and will learn how to nurture their own bodies. Beyond the science-related education, the garden project will also teach the children interpersonal skills such as cooperation, responsibility, time management, and community involvement. The garden project will include education about environmental sustainability, organic gardening, water resourcing, and composting.
