About the Program:

We have four goals for our garden this year; to increase student contact time, to better align the program with Common Core Standards, to increase food production and to create a stronger school community through the garden's programs.

We have already taken steps to achieve these goals. We have held a very successful Community Harvest Festival with the help of Slow Food Russian River. We have added seven beds to improve food production with the help of Sunrise Rotary. We are developing a new garden curriculum that helps the teachers achieve their new Common Core goals. To help make these goals possible, we are improving our schedule so more students will be in the garden for longer periods. For this to be successfully, we need an outdoor teaching area that provides seating and protection from sun and rain. This grant will provide the funding to purchase materials for this structure. We look forward to working with our supporters to provide a great new learning space for our students!
