St. Bedes Catholic School

The Littles Road Community Garden has already completed one successful growing season. Our dedicated team of volunteers helped to plan and implement the garden from the ground up and has been integral in the daily operation of the site. Next year we hope to develop the Malvern Community Greenhouse and Learning Centre which will offer community members and students from surrounding schools the space and opportunity to learn about the growing cycle from seed to harvest. Our aim is to work with teachers and lead residents to develop a garden-based curriculum, using the greenhouse as a 'living classroom' for students and community members alike. The facility will also provide low-cost seedlings to community and backyard gardeners from the area. The Whole Kids School Garden Grant will help to supplement the costs of equipping and operating the greenhouse, as well as contributing to the cost of curriculum materials for garden classes. This program is supported by Malvern Family Resource Centre.
