About the Program:

This grant will afford Springfield Middle School (SMS) the opportunity to provide nutritional foods, business skills, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) lab resources, an enriched environment for counseling, and a mentorship program with Springfield High School to our scholars.

Springfield Middle School is a Title One School. Poverty is a challenge for the majority of the SMS student population. All of our students are on a free lunch program, due to the lack of resources. We are able to provide nutrition at school, but we currently do not have the resources to encourage proper nutrition in the scholar's homes.

It is our school's mission to have a positive impact on all of our scholar's lives. We believe that we can achieve this by being able to provide the scholar's with an education in nutrition through a hands-on approach while integrating our mission with our local community.
