We are an alternate school in the Vancouver School Board, BC, Canada. We have a school garden based on permaculture principles which includes 5 garden beds, a composting system & 4 chickens. Our cafeteria program uses the food produced by our garden amongst the ingredients to cook lunches for our entire student population.

We are the pilot school in the VSB for chickens & we built our coop in Science class then installed our chickens Feb 2013. Our community partners are the Envionmental Youth Alliance [EYA] & Thinks and Eat Green in Schools[TEGS]. We also work with Foodwisdom a family run social enterprise who have done workshops using our chicken's eggs to make food.
