Silver Spring International Middle School

We are seeking your support to help us start a school garden program for our middle school, which serves students in grades 6-8 in a highly diverse and urban area of Montgomery County. As an authorized International Baccalaureate World School that offers the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), we are committed to providing our students with inquiry-based, real-world problem solving in an international, intercultural context. A school garden would provide us with so many opportunities to enrich our students' MYP research and help us in our goals of becoming a certified Maryland Green School and an International Eco-School. We are excited to begin tackling this project with our very active student Green Team, and our goal is to create a student-driven, sustainable school garden program that enhances our MYP educational framework. We will partner with the Audubon Naturalist Society's GreenKids "Salad Science" program to work with our students in meeting this goal.
