About the Program:

Since moving to a 38-acre campus in 2001, Shepherd Valley Waldorf School has consistently incorporated gardening and exploration of nature in the curriculum of every grade, pre-K - 8th. However, two years ago the school's gardening efforts got a big boost from a new collaboration with Everybody Eats!, a local non-profit committed to expanding Boulder County's supply of organically, locally and sustainably grown produce. While Shepherd Valley pursued ideas for making the best use of all its land without requiring additional human or capital resources, Everybody Eats!, was in search of affordable land to farm. By the spring of 2011, Everybody Eats! had broken ground on a 1.5 acre farm at the entrance to the school. By this fall, the Shepherd Valley Farm had 4 interns, 35 CSA shares, and countless visits from students and summer campers. Having a fully operational and professionally managed farm on our campus has provided an exciting new dimension to our gardening programs.
