About the Program:

Our goal is to offer the entire school community a venue in which they can engage in activities that beautify their school, support learning, and provide food to our critical needs families and the Friendship Trays program. Create a volunteer network for kids and parents to get involved together to help extend positive food attitudes and choices into the home. The garden will offer students a fun setting in which to practice skills of planning, goal-setting, and patience, life skills that are inextricably linked to gardening. Our k 4 and 5 classes will share garden responsibilities and make weekly visits to the garden to water, weed and touch, taste and learn about the food they are growing. They will also receive curriculum in science and literacy. Grant funds will be used for garden supplies, educational materials integrating garden program into curricula. Garden supplies include soil tests, plants, tools and irrigation. Will need educational supplies for experiments and storage.
