About the Program:

As an International Baccalaureate school nestled in an urban environment, the School at St. George Place administration and our “Dragon” community believes an edible garden is a unique opportunity to expose students to the concepts of appreciating nature, the food derived from it, and the value of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. The ultimate goal is that these concepts resonate beyond the classrooms (math, science, art, writing, geography, PE) and spill into the students’ lives, enriching our families and the larger community. We envision partnering with our community sponsor and growing a garden with significant student effort to create a bounty that can be sold at community farmers markets organized by the students. We would also like the students to also develop a cookbook with recipes and art created by them and featuring the fruits and vegetables we grow, which can be sold to offer nutritious meal choices to the community and promote awareness of our growing garden!
