About the Program:

Sabin Edible Garden's goals are to educate and feed as many Sabin students and community members as possible with our existing growing space. In-class instruction, after-school cooking classes and a weekly community food bag program all depend on the productivity of Sabin Edible Garden. We happily serve those in need in our community, but have observed that both harvest yields and ADA accessibility can be improved. By receiving this grant, our school will be able to install and operate a high-quality composting system that will improve the sustainability of the Garden Program for years to come. Students will learn more, the school will waste less, the Garden will produce more, and EVERYONE will gain equitable access to the benefits our Program delivers. We have experienced using pounds of cures and are full steam ahead in shifting to a system built on ounces of prevention. This grant allows us to turn outputs back into inputs, while redefining the lens of a dying throwaway culture.
